What isn’t covered?
Tractor insurance may not cover you against:
- Normal wear and tear (nor the associated depreciation in value)
- Mechanical, electrical, or computer failure
- Damage to internal mechanics caused by materials the machine is designed to process
- Theft when the keys were left in the vehicle
- Punctures
Antique tractor insurance
You can take out antique tractor insurance for classic models (usually over 25 years old), whether you work them on the farm or collect them as a hobby. An agreed value will be set because antique tractors often rise in value over time. You can also take out laid-up classic tractor insurance, which covers you during tractor restoration projects.
If you hire your classic tractors for events, you may need hire and reward cover, which isn’t covered as standard.
Agricultural fleet insurance
Even a small farm may own several valuable agricultural vehicles. Agricultural fleet insurance can streamline your farm insurance, keeping cover for your tractor, agricultural vehicles, and work vehicles all in one place. This may also be the more cost-effective route.
