What is motorhome insurance?

Motorhome insurance is a policy designed for motorhomes and campervans, offering the right level of protection for a larger vehicle that also serves as a home-from-home.

This insurance will be tailored to reflect the way you use your motorhome, for example, for social, domestic, and leisure use, commuting, or personal business use.

What does it cover?

You can choose between the three standard levels of cover for your motorhome, designed to protect you in the event of a road traffic accident:

Many motorhome owners add on breakdown cover and European cover for when they’re travelling abroad.


What isn’t covered?

Understanding what isn’t covered by your policy is just as important as knowing what is. Damage from normal wear and tear is not covered, nor is damage caused by vermin or pests. If your vehicle was left unsecured and unattended, your theft claim may be rejected, depending on the policy terms.

What types of vehicles can be covered by motorhome insurance?

What’s the difference between a motorhome and a caravan for insurance purposes?

While you must hold insurance for a motorhome that is driven on the road, you are not legally required to insure a caravan – although it’s a very good idea to protect your investment with insurance.

Caravan and motorhome insurance are not the same, and you cannot cover a motorhome with caravan insurance, as this will not provide the level of protection required.
